a another scam call going the rounds. The caller is a very aggressive
male who claims to be from HMRC and says that the person owes a sum of
money in unpaid tax and unless they pay it immediately they will be
arrested. If the person is not in they leave a message to call a
particular number. If the number is called they get the same

I have just been
advised of a possible telephone scam. A number of members have received
calls, usually recorded but not always, variously claiming to be from BT
or Sky, saying that your broadband is about to be cut off and to press
1. They were suspicious and put the phone down. I understand that if
they had pressed 1 the caller would have had access to her router.

Proposed new group - Croquet
Croquet is a game suited to any age which can be played by men and women and is becoming increasingly popular. I intend to run a beginners course on Tuesday mornings from 10.00 am to 12 Noon., starting in April. This will be a thirteen week structured course of instruction after which beginners will have a good idea of how to play the game. I did this same course last year and half a dozen members, whilst not yet experts, are now enjoying the game.
Why don’t you come along and join them ?
It is a surprisingly skilful and complex game combining elements of snooker with the tactics of chess. Croquet epitomises a tranquil summer’s afternoon sport. Once the relatively simple strokes have been mastered, the game is both fascinating and fun to play.
The cost will be £10.00 for all thirteen sessions. No special clothing is required and all equipment needed will be provided. The venue is Urchfont Cricket Club and perhaps we can arrange some car sharing scheme.
If you would like to learn and participate in this interesting and enjoyable game please contact me as soon as possible.
John Barron ( see Newsletter for contact details)
Would you like to do something to help the RSPB?
The RSPB is the country’s largest nature conservation charity, inspiring everyone to give nature a home. Together with our partners, we protect threatened birds and wildlife so our towns, coast and countryside will teem with life once again. We play a leading role in BirdLife International, a worldwide partnership of nature conservation organisations.
