Visit to the RN Fleet Air Arm Station & Museum by Coach
Wednesday 8th August 2018
This will be an exciting opportunity to visit the Yeovilton Tower for a conducted tour and briefing on the station’s ATC procedures. Following this, we will visit the Museum.
For security reasons at the station, we are required to advise full names, dates of birth and nationality of all visitors, so the form below requests this information, which will only be used for this purpose.
The cost of this visit is £25 per person, which includes coach hire, the drivers tip and a donation to a Royal Navy charity. Entrance to the Museum will be payable on-site. Members of the Friends of the Museum will not be charged, but will need to show evidence of membership.
Priority will be given to current Devizes U3A members, but members of other U3As will be welcome, although expect to be limited to a maximum 25 people for the visit. Please note that any guest not a current member of Devizes U3A will not be covered by our travel insurance, and so will need to make their own arrangements as appropriate.
The coach will leave the Station Road Car Park in Devizes at 09:00 on Wednesday 8th August, due back in Devizes around 17:00 hrs.
The first 25 fully completed application forms, with cheques, will assure a place on the visit.
There will be a standby list, once all 25 places are filled, and you will be informed if you are placed on this list. Trust all this is clear, any problems please call me.

Proposed new group - Croquet
Croquet is a game suited to any age which can be played by men and women and is becoming increasingly popular. I intend to run a beginners course on Tuesday mornings from 10.00 am to 12 Noon., starting inApril. This will be a thirteen week structured course of instruction after which beginners will have a good idea of how to play the game. I did this same course last year and half a dozen members, whilst not yet experts, are now enjoying the game.
Why don’t you come along and join them ?
It is a surprisingly skilful and complex game combining elements of snooker with the tactics of chess. Croquet epitomises a tranquil summer’s afternoon sport. Once the relatively simple strokes have been mastered, the game is both fascinating and fun to play.
The cost will be £10.00 for all thirteen sessions. No special clothing is required and all equipment needed will be provided. The venue is Urchfont Cricket Club and perhaps we can arrange some car sharing scheme.
If you would like to learn and participate in this interesting and enjoyable game please contact me as soon as possible.
John Barron ( see Newsletter for contact details)
Would you like to do something to help the RSPB?
The RSPB is the country’s largest nature conservation charity, inspiring everyone to give nature a home. Together with our partners, we protect threatened birds and wildlife so our towns, coast and countryside will teem with life once again. We play a leading role in BirdLife International, a worldwide partnership of nature conservation organisations.
